Nuts will stay fresher, longer if you...

We know nuts are incredibly good for health. They're an excellent source of antioxidants and fiber, pack plenty of nutrient-dense monounsaturated fat, and have even been shown to lower cholesterol, inflammation, and your risk of heart disease.

Scientists have long touted the health benefits of making nuts a regular part of your diet. However, storing nuts can be quite challenging as they can be easily exposed to moisture.

The shelf life of various nuts is influenced by a variety of factors. Their date of manufacturing and the temperature at which they are stored are some factors that can determine the shelf life of various nuts. In order to prevent your nuts from spoiling, it is important to store them under right conditions and we promise your nuts will stay fresher, longer.

One of the best way to keep your nuts fresh for longer is to buy them fresh. Instead of buying nuts in bulk, go for smaller quantities, which you think can be consumed in a few weeks' times. If not stored correctly, nuts bought in bulk can become rancid quickly, especially when exposed to heat. The same goes to seeds such as sunflower and sesame seeds.

Store in Air-Tight Container

One of the best ways for nut storage is keeping them in air-tight containers. Air-tight containers do not allow the air to seep in, which in turn helps in keeping them fresh for longer.

Store in a cool dry place

Are you storing nuts in your kitchen pantry, which is located just above the stove? You might want to reconsider. Light, heat, humidity and excess moisture cause nuts to spoil faster.  If you live in a hot and humid climate or you are sweltering through the hottest part of summer, nuts will probably need to be refrigerated. The fridge or freezer is ideal. Nuts can be refridgerated for up to four months and frozen up to six months.
